Upcoming Workshops and Presentations
Ginny is available to provide professional training and educational workshops for professionals in the fields of mental health, divorce and Employee Assistance services.
This 3-hour workshop is based on the recognition that divorce ambivalence is surprisingly common. In any given year, approximately 22% of all married individuals experience serious divorce ideation. While most do not go on to get divorced, they often use individual therapy to process their relationship stress – even when it was not part of the original presenting problem.
Therapy can easily become dominated by the ups and downs of marital stress and therapists are often frustrated by how divorce ambivalence can interfere with the work of therapy. In some cases, therapists inadvertently resort to relationship-undermining statements because they lack concrete strategies for responding to this highly emotional presentation.
This workshop provides concrete skills and participants leave with tangible strategies that can be immediately implemented in their clinical work.
NOTE: Ginny is one of fewer than 10 professionals licensed by the Doherty Relationship Institute, LLC to provide this training.
We discuss the impact of marital distress on employee performance and recognize that EAP providers are often the first point of contact for these highly stressed individuals. Participants learn practical skills for recognizing the different presentations of marriage crisis and practical clinical interventions relevant to each. The workshop pays special attention to the common presentation of the mixed agenda couple, where one person is seriously considering divorce and the other wants reconciliation. We introduce discernment counseling as the most useful referral for these mixed agenda couples. The workshop is full of practical suggestions and participants will leave with skills they can use immediately.
EAP professionals who are seeking CEAP certification (or renewal) can attend this workshop which has been approved by the CEAA to offer 3 PDH (Domains I, II, III, Course #YZ25).
